Meet the Schools of D9
Meet the Schools of D9
At Colorado, all of our students experience the benefits of being ASDA members thanks to our wonderful sponsors including The Colorado Dental Association, Metropolitan Denver Dental Society, the Trust, and the Colorado Prosthodontics Society. Colorado ASDA strives to add value to our students’ dental school journey by hosting events and programming that reflect our chapter’s three pillars—wellness, unity, and excellence.
Through our chapter, students can learn about dental school and its challenges, future career options, the latest and greatest dental technology, professional and leadership development, and legislative issues that affect our profession. We spend time evaluating missing spots in our education so that we can try to fill them, so Colorado graduates are ready for the real world. When we aren’t working hard on our dental education, Colorado ASDA provides our students with events to alleviate the stress of being a graduate student. This last year we held many yoga sessions, hikes, socials, ski retreats, races, and many more events to remind students to take some personal time during our busy education. You might be able to tell that we love to be outside!
Whether you are interested in pre-dental outreach, community service, networking, leadership development, health and wellness, or connecting with students at national conferences, our chapter can integrate you into the world of organized dentistry so you can make a difference.
Thank you for your interest in Colorado ASDA! Let’s work together to represent our fellow dental students, defend our rights, and propel our profession forward.

For years, Houston ASDA has made strides to connect our students to the vast resources the profession has to offer. We focus on providing opportunities to serve the community, to interact with predentals, to connect with each other outside of school and advocate for the profession both at the local and national level.
What is unique about Houston ASDA is that each committee/sub-section of ASDA has at least one event a month. This means that there is constantly something going on amongst our community service, wellness, social, predental, advocacy, and events committees.
We work closely with our local dental society, the Greater Houston Dental Society, to host networking events with dentists in the area. We also host a wide range of unique events including ASDA Week, Lunch & Learns, Brews Chews & Dental News happy hours, and Casino Night.
As a chapter, we are constantly trying to improve and expand by introducing new events and partnerships. We are excited to have several of our chapter members represented on both the district and national levels. Cheers to an amazing year for all of District 9!

Hello from San Antonio! San Antonio ASDA plays a fundamental role in building friendships between the D1,D2,D3, and D4 classes. D1-D2 students have classes on the main campus, while D3-D4 students are in a different clinic. Our chapter hosts events such as socials, lunches, and more so that the whole school can come together. Our focus is to bridge the gap between upper and lower classmen, but also to connect our ASDA students with aspects of organized dentistry. Events such as Legislative Advocacy Week and Residency Round Table help connect our members to the TDA and residents in every dental specialty. San Antonio also hosts numerous socials and lunches to provide a platform for networking. San Antonio ASDA membership is elective and our members choose to be part of our chapter. Membership is higher than ever and we are excited for the future of our chapter and our profession.

The American Student Dental Association (ASDA) is the largest national organization dedicated to dental students with membership from 66 dental schools throughout the nation. Our chapter at the University of Oklahoma takes pride in our broad scope of involvement in the Oklahoma dental community. At the University of Oklahoma, we have an average of 97% student membership. Oklahoma ADA is working as hard as ever to serve our students, profession, and community. As things have reopen, we are so excited to get back to hosting in person events on campus and around our community. It is our mission to come back from this pandemic stronger and to continue providing quality events and resources to our members. There following part of this mission statement catches my attention and I plan on focusing on the most this year:
Welfare: There’s no doubt dental school is stressful. It’s crucial that we take care of ourselves. ASDA’s wellness initiative serves to remind us to prioritize our health.
As the president of the Oklahoma ASDA chapter, I encourage our students to get involved and take advantage of the many opportunities we will be offering them this year. Educating our students on the current issues involving the future of the dental profession enables them to understand the importance of having a unified voice for our education and professional life.
I am excited to watch our chapter continue to grow and accomplish new goals. I wish you all success this year and look forward to working with you and for you!
Sincerely,

Howdy from Texas A&M College of Dentistry ASDA! Our mission is to provide an enriching experience for our members by providing them with meaningful events and opportunities to partake. We are focused on serving our local community, advocating for issues pertinent to the profession and to us as students, helping Pre-Dents be prepared to apply, and promoting health & wellness on campus. We accomplish this by the work of our wonderful officers, who work tirelessly to plan and put together amazing events that provide these opportunities. This year, we are hoping to have a big impact on campus and become that “home base” for our student body. The years of the Covid-19 pandemic stalled the growth of our chapter. Because of this, the 2022-2023 school year is all about creating a lasting legacy at our school. We will do this by reconnecting with sponsors, running great events on a consistent basis, and being a visible presence on our campus. We are excited about the plans we have for this year and look forward to the impact we will make!

‘Brush Week’: a week of competing between the 4 dental classes.
Monday: Best Dental School Selfie
Tuesday: Lunch And Learn (whichever class has most attend wins that day)
Wednesday: Amalgames – different classes compete in sports activities like intramural
Thursday: Best Dental Struggle Meme
Friday: Volleyball competition at Sandbar
The class with the most participation, wins the entire week and gets $1000 towards their class fund!
‘Legislative KickOff’: different school organizations present a political topic pertaining to dentistry/dental students and if students stop by all the booths to hear their presentations, they can enter a raffle and win a prize.
‘Spotlight of the Month’ – every month we ‘spotlight’ a student or faculty member and interview them, and post it to our social media pages
Vendor Fair: we have 2 vendor fairs a year for students to attend and get information regarding loupes and lights, learn about insurance, finance, realty, and dental services. They can also enter to win a raffle.
‘Engage Competition’: our way of directly voicing our opinions to our representatives. Basically a competition between the classes to see which class had the most students write to their representatives regarding H.R. 1614, the Student Loan Refinancing Act.
El Paso
El Paso
Greetings from El Paso! As the most recent addition to the ASDA District 9 family, we have been fortunate enough to be surrounded by the supportive and amazing community of dental students in our sister chapters across Texas, Oklahoma and Colorado. The TTUHSC-EP Hunt School of Dental Medicine’s ASDA chapter aims to advocate for the rights and welfare of our member’s and the beautiful community of El Paso that we serve.
Our chapter presents its members with opportunities to advance their dental careers by introducing members to organized dentistry, providing professional education resources, and by promoting advocacy efforts with respect to current legislative affairs. In addition to investing in our members professional training, our chapter aims to promote the importance of wellness and community education. During our inaugural year, we hosted Pre-Dental workshops, online mock interviews, yoga day, and community volunteer events at the local food and animal rescue shelters. We love our community and are eager to continue our projects into the upcoming year!
El Paso ASDA is committed to promoting oral health education and fostering a supportive community for the welfare of our members! We are grateful for the mentorship of our surrounding District 9 ASDA chapters and look forward to serving ASDA at the local and district levels this year!
With warm smiles,
